i’msoproudofbeingoneofthebestplayersintheworld.butcouldyoubelieveihadbeenalazygirlwheniwasinjuniorhigh.i’mnotkidding!atthattime,runningwasmylastfavorite.ireallydon’tknowhowtodescribethefirsttimeiwasonthetrack.itwashorrible.whenistartedtorun,iwassimplyoutofbreath.andwhileitouchedthefinishingline,ireallydidn’tknowifiwasstillalive.it’ssofunny,huh?butit’strue,idid.
well,somethinghappenedandchangedthesituation.wewontherightofholdingtheolympicgamesin2015.afterthat,sportsbecameakindofgameincampus.andtherearemanysportsclubsinschool.onedaysomeoneaskedme:“areyougonnatryoneofthose?”firstifeltsowired.
“trytogetintosportsclubs?areyoukidding?”isaid.andshegoes:“whynot??it’snothardatall,andsofascinating!”soididtriedoneandiwassoluckytobecomeoneofthosewhodidorienteering.thatisafantasticsport!youneedtorunandfindwheretogojustbyusingamapandacompass.it’swasn’tpopularinchinaatfirst.butwhenwehearditmightbecomeaneweventin2015,wedidpracticedhard,andaimedtowinthefirstchampionoforienteeringintheworld.whenwepracticed,therewerealotoftroubles.youknow,sometimesyouneedtogowithyourfeet,butsometimesyouneedtogowithyourheart.insomesituations,wefacedthedifficultiesandproblems.andweneedtosolvethatthroughteamworkandstrongwillpower.sowecanrunfaster,gohigherandbestronger.thatiswhatwesay—olympicspirit.
