ofcourse,we'renotsatisfied.we'vestillgotmoreworktodo–andi'vedirectedmyadministrationtokeepdoingeverythingitcantofulfillourpromisetoourveterans.butthisisn'tjustajobforgovernmentalone.weallhavearoletoplay.lessthanonepercentofamericansareservinginuniform.soit'struemostamericansdon'talwaysseeandappreciatetheincredibleskillsandassetsthatourveteranscanoffer.buteveryamericanshouldknowthatourveteransaresomeofthemosttalented,capablepeopleintheworld.they'vemasteredskillsandtechnologiesandleadershiprolesthatareimpossibletoteachoffthebattlefield.theyknowhowtogetstuffdone.
andasourveteranswilltellyouthemselves,they'renotfinishedservingtheircountry.they'reteachersanddoctors,engineersandentrepreneurs,socialworkersandcommunityleaders.theyserveinstatehousesacrossthecountryandincongress.asitellsmallbusinessownersandceosonaregularbasis,ifyouwanttogetthejobdone,hireavet.everysector,everyindustry,everycommunityinthiscountrycanbenefitfromtheincredibletalentsofourveterans.
ourtroopsandveteransgiveustheirverybest.that'swhatasoldiernamedcaptainflorentgrobergproved.threeyearsago,onpatrolinafghanistan,flosawasuicidebombercomingtowardhisunit.withouthesitating,flograbbedhimbyhisvestandhelpedpushhimtotheground.whenthebombwentoff,flowasbadlyinjured,andfourofhiscomradeswerekilled.butmanymoreweresavedbecauseofflo'ssacrifice.florepresentstheverybestofamerica–andthisweek,iwasproudtopresenthimwiththemedalofhonorforhisactions.
veteranslikeflo,theydeserveourundyinggratitude.theydeservethechancetokeepservingthecountrytheyriskedeverythingtodefend.andsowemustcometogethertokeepgivingthemthatchance,notjustonveteransday,butoneverysingledayoftheyear.maygodblessallthosewhoserveandallwhohavegiventheirlivesforourcountry.andmaygodblesstheunitedstatesofamerica.
